Who We Are

Students of the Karate-Do Academy study an art with rich history extending its roots back to ancient China, Japan and Korea but also incorporates American influences.

KDA represents several systems including, Kajukenpo, Korean Tang Soo Do, Jujitsu, Judo, Shaolin Kung Fu (also known as "Chinese Boxing"), Chito Ryu, Shorin Ryu,Toy Gar Kung Fu, Chinese Kenpo, Uechi Ryu, Tai Chi and Shaolin Chin na.

It incorporates these and other principles into Martial Art's style offering defense techniques from the fundamental to the advanced.

Our program was founded in1985 by Sensei Don Polevacik who now resides in Portland, Oregon.

KDA is committed to building and maintaining the highest quality family-oriented Karate-Do program. We encourage involvement of parents and family members by watching classes, and most importantly by enrolling yourselves with the new students.

Done properly you can apply what you learn here to any endeavor imaginable, at any age, and become more proficient. Among other things, that is what makes a martial art so valuable

And where one may play hobby, one lives the Martial Way. You can have fun and pursue excellence at the same time.  We do it here at KDA every time we have class.
